A rare feat for a player from Midwestern State, strong safety Marqui Christian heard his name called in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals.
Christian is a Division II product of the Lone Star Conference. He is an in-the-box safety that will provide some thump from the secondary. He is a much quicker player than many scouts noticed on tape, giving him the ability to morph into a more well-rounded player.
He does an excellent job of studying tape and preparing himself to anticipate what a quarterback will do with the football. Christian, at 5-10, 196 pounds, is not afraid to beat and bang with some of the bigger tight ends.
At this point, Christian is more of luxury than a need for the Cardinals. They can spend a couple of years letting him develop into what they want out of their safety.
Congratulations to Marqui Christian and Midwestern State on sending another Division II player to the NFL.
