The most devastating pash rusher in the FCS last fall, Montans Grizzlies outside linebacker Tyrone Holmes is headed to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Holmes turned into the most dominant player at the FCS level as a senior with 87 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, and 18 sacks in route to winning one of the National FCS Defensive Player of the Year awards.
At 6-4, 250 pounds, Holmes definitely looks the part of a defensive end/outside linebacker prospect. He is able to rush with a hand on the ground or from a standing position very effectively. His quickness off the ball is a nice weapon that he can use to catch offensive tackles off guard.
Holmes is not a one trick pony with only an outside move. He can bait tackles into going outside, but rushing inside with a quick move. He looked very impressive at certain moments of Shrine Bowl practices. He falls into a great fit at Jacksonville where he will not be asked to step in immediately and contribute. He can learn from a talented front seven and grow as a player early on.
Congrats to Tyrone Holmes and Montana on sending another player to the NFL.
