Kevin Byard Of Middle Tennessee Is Selected By The Titans With The #64 Pick Of The NFL Draft

One of the best football IQ players in the draft, MTSU safety Kevin Byard is now a Tennessee Titan.

Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

Playing four years in the shadow of Nashville, Middle Tennessee safety Kevin Byard is now a Tennessee Titan after going #64 in the 2016 NFL Draft.

A majority of the time, Byard is the smartest player on the field. His football IQ is through the roof. He was the leader of the Middle Tennessee defense, getting players into position on nearly every play. He is a true student of the game realizes just how lucky he is to have a chance to play in the NFL.

He is an effective player with more than 300 tackles and 19 interceptions as a four year starter. He leaves Middle Tennessee as one of the most decorated defensive backs in school history.

Byard played his best versus the best competition, including an impressive interception versus Alabama early in the season. Byard has played against incredible competition while at MTSU and should make the transition to the NFL rather easily. He is the highest MTSU draft pick since Tyrone Calico.

The Titans have made it a mission to find good character guys that are also football junkies under the new regime. Byard fits that mold perfectly.

Congratulations to Kevin Byard and the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders on sending another player to the next level.
