NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 Open Thread

The tournament field is down to the Sweet 16, which means the busted brackets are piling up in dumpsters across America. On the bright side, you can talk tournament basketball and lament your bracket with us.

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

After all the upsets and last second winners in the round of 32, the Sweet 16 splits the college basketball viewing public into three separate categories:

  • Those still clinging to their improbably perfect bracket choices, hoping that their luck holds out until the final game.
  • People who are watching the tournament out of spite and hate because their team was eliminated, their bracketis busted or both. These people are waiting for baseball season or spring football to start
  • Confused TBS viewers wondering why college basketball is cutting into their American Dad/Family Guy/Seinfeld reruns.
With the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders eliminated in the round of 32, Underdog Dynasty is now without a blog-supported team. However, as true believers in anarchy we do love us some upsets.

For those taking part in the Underdoggy Style Pool, you can follow all the action in the link to the left.

Thursday's slate of games will see Miami try to get to their first Elite Eight in program history and Texas A&M try to continue their climb after an improbable comeback versus frequent Cinderella Northern Iowa.

The later games include Duke, who will try and use Cobra Ki understudy Grayson Allen to sweep the leg on Oregon, and a Kansas versus Maryland Matchup that upset lovers will be pressed not to follow

Looking at Thursday, Wisconsin will look to continue their run of good luck against Notre Dame after advancing on a buzzer beater versus No. 2 Xavier. The Fighting Irish are not without their own run of good fortune, as they rallied from five points down with  against 12 seed Stephen F. Austin to avoid an upset.

The rest of the slate is also worth a watch, including a late matchup between high seeds Gonzaga and Syracuse out of the Midwest division and potential upset material between top seed North Carolina and No. 5 Indiana.
