Top Five G5 Recruiting Classes On National Signing Day

National Signing Day is over. Who brought in the best recruiting class in the G5?

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

National Signing Day is officially over

Here are the top five recruiting classes in the G5 so far.

Updated: 11:46

1. Houston

You know the big news already. Nothings changed.

2. Memphis

The Memphis Tigers have gone from not mentioned at all to the second best class in the G5. With Houston raising the bar immensely on the recruiting trail Mike Norvell has done a good job of making sure Memphis won't be left behind as he's picked up where Justin Fuente left off. Out of their 24 commits, 18 are three-stars with the biggest coming surprises coming today as defensive end John Tate who was leaning towards fellow G5 power Boise State before finally deciding to go to Memphis. The Tigers didn't stop there as they went into Louisiana and nabbed former Alabama commit safety Joshua Perry. Perry had been committed to Alabama since May but de-committed just yesterday. For Norvell to get Perry from Alabama is a huge deal

3. UAB

After taking a one-year hiatus from the recruiting world UAB football is back and back with a vengeance as Bill Clark and co. have been recruitng like gangbusters.

4. Western Michigan

PJ Fleck and the Broncos are another team who has benefited from being a huge surprise today as they now have the best class in MAC for the third straight year in a row. They have 15 three-stars out of 26 commits and were able to keep running back Matthew Falcon from flipping back to Michigan. They were also able to keep safety Stefan Clairborne from flipping to Michigan.

5. Boise State

The Broncos had the fourth best class yesterday and have now dropped to the fifth best class in the G5. They still have the best class in the Mountain West Conference but losing a recruit to Memphis that you thought was a lock had to hurt.
