Last week we focused on which teams have been killing it on the recruiting trail in the American Athletic Conference and what we found out was USF and UCF have been recruiting better than the media darling Houston Cougars.
This week we look at Conference USA.
Western Kentucky has been one of the most consistent teams in the G5 as former head coaches Willie Taggart and Bobby Petrino have set the foundation for Jeff Brohm to continue having success in Bowling Green.
The Hilltoppers have had five straight winning seasons while playing in two separate conferences, doing it from 2013-14 as Sun Belt members and the past two years as part of C-USA. They have gone to three bowl games over the past four seasons and just finished their best season since joining the FBS in 2009 with a 12-2 record, bringing home a C-USA Championship and caping off the season with a bowl win.
Unfortunately for the WKU faithful, none of those accomplishments seems to be translating to better success on the recruiting trail. In Bill Connelly's recruiting rankings WKU ranked third in C-USA in his five-year rankings but fifth in his two-year rankings.
Jeff Brohm is a hot coaching candidate as his two-year run has sparked plenty attention from P5 schools and even though Brohm has recently signed an extension to remain in Bowling Green you can't help but feel its only a matter of time before he leaves for a better gig.
Although it seems the Hilltoppers can win despite pedestrian recruiting classes with Brohm running the show that may not be the case with the next guy.

- UAB is not on here because they did not bring in a recruiting class two years ago. But they did this year and it looks great!
- Marshall has had the best recruiting class for five straight years according to 247Sports. If UAB's massive haul couldn't wrestle away the signing day belts from Marshall the only way to stop them may be getting Doc Holliday out of Huntington.
- Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech had the two best records in C-USA West last year and have had the best classes in that division over the past two years. Last year's game determined who would play in the C-USA Championship Game and it looks like the next few years may do the same.
- Charlie Partridge has recruited South Florida kids with ease while at FAU. If he starts winning FAU will be a force in C-USA recruiting rankings.
- 47 spots separate Marshall from UTEP as the Miners last two classes average near the bottom in FBS.
- Frank Wilson and Seth Littrell have a lot of work to do.
- All you need to know about Rice's decline is right here.
