Too Fast, Too Strong Arkansas State Throttles ULM 51-10

Red Wolves run conference win streak to 12 & keep pace in Sun Belt race

NCAA Football: Arkansas State at Auburn John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

Matt Viator brought his ULM Warhawks into Jonesboro Saturday night trying to turn back the tide of recent history against the Red Wolves, but instead found his team overwhelmed by a faster, deeper Red Wolf squad 51-10. Arkansas State scored on six of its seven first half possessions to take a 42-3 halftime lead led by Justice Hansens’s 258 passing yards at the half. The ULM defense came in suspect stopping the rush, but ASU found plenty of time and space for the passing game, even getting RB Warren Wand involved with 2 TD catches out of the backfield. Defensively the ASU held ULM to 10 points and 336 yards of total offense. It was the first time since 2006 that the defense had held back to back opponents to 10 points or less. ASU runs its season record to 3-4 overall and 3-0 in conference.

BY THE NUMBERS:

335: Offensive yards total at halftime for ASU compared to 93 for ULM

0: Turnovers by ASU-second game this year with 0 (Auburn)

11: Number of different receivers that caught balls

4: Number of times opponents have scored over 50 on ULM

7: Straight wins for ASU over ULM & 2001 was the last time ULM won in Jonesboro
