The Troy Trojans are off this week after a huge win over in-state rival, the South Alabama Jaguars last Thursday night. Troy’s hot start led them to a five game winning streak and they are looking to add another win against 1-7 UMass on November 5. Troy currently has the nation's 10th longest active winning streak.
Along with the winning streak Troy is bowl eligible being 6-1 and 4-0 in conference play. CBS Sports rankings of 26 to 128 list Troy as 33rd in the country with conference foe Appalachian State 30th.
Troy’s defense is the driving force behind their current success. This defense has forced 14 interceptions this year and is tied for second in that category in the FBC. Appalachian State leads the nation in picks with 15. Tied with the Trojans are:
1. Cincinnati
2. BYU
3. Utah
Defensive back, Blace Brown has forced four interceptions this season. He is tied for second with the most picks and ahead of him are:
1. Clifton Duck (Appalachian State) (5)
2. Kia Nacua (BYU) (5)
3. Tarvarus McFadden (FSU) (5)
Senior punter, Ryan Kay is tied for sixth with the most completed field goals. Kay has made 13 field goals out of 16. He has not missed an extra point this year and is 26 for 26 in extra points.
Offensively the Trojans are putting up good numbers through the air and on the ground. Brandon Silvers has thrown the ball 1834 yards going 156 for 247 with 15 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Jordan Chunn has played well through the first half of the season. Chunn has carried the ball 156 times for 816 yards with seven touchdowns. He is the backbone for the Trojan running attack.
The Trojan offensive line is the key to Troy’s success on offense. This o-line has only given up a single sack all year. Key linemen is Antonio Garcia that brutalizes defensive players.
Troy has five games left this season starting with UMass November 5. After that Troy faces Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Texas State, and Georgia Southern.
