Former Arkansas State TE Darion Griswold added to Senior Bowl Roster

After raising the right eyebrows at this year's East-West Shrine game, Red Wolves tight end Darion Griswold became a late addition to the Reese's Senior Bowl in Mobile, AL.

A veteran of three GoDaddy Bowls, former Red Wolves tight end Darion Griswold is accustomed to playing big, postseason games at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. This morning, Big Gris was invited to Mobile one more time: as an invitee to the Reese's Senior Bowl, to be played January 30th.

The 6'5" Griswold, a 2-time All-Sun Belt tight end who appeared on the John Mackey Award watch list in 2014 and 2015, is a fan favorite in Jonesboro who not only served as Arkansas State's primary TE for four years, he also played for a time for the Red Wolves basketball team. Of course, he's canonized for the moment of mere coincidental timing:

The powerful Griswold impressed at this year's East-West Shrine game, increasing his NFL draft stock with his blocking and route-running.

Griswold is the only player representing the Sun Belt at the Senior Bowl this year, and the first selection from Arkansas State since Demario Davis in 2012.

(NOTE: Arkansas QB Brandon Allen was added to the roster earlier this year. Perhaps we'll see an Arkansas Razorbacks-Arkansas State Red Wolves connection?)
