Despite entering the game as a massive underdog (35 points to be exact), the Troy Trojans held the 24th ranked Wisconsin Badgers to just 28 points on the afternoon as they lost 28-3.
The Trojan defense played very well early on as the two teams exchanged punts for much of the first quarter before Wisconsin running back Dare Ogubowale opened scoring with a touchdown scamper. Troy would move the ball down the field nicely on their next drive, but the drive stalled out and the Trojans were held to just a field goal. They would not score again.
We then saw punt after punt for another significant stretch before the Badgers scored on the two-minute drill at the end of the second quarter. Wisconsin quarterback Joel Stave scrambled into the end zone to make it 14-7 heading into the halftime intermission.
Troy turned the ball over on their first drive of the second half courtesy of a Brandon Silvers' fumble, allowing the Badgers to break the game open with a 32-yard touchdown run by Tanner McEvoy to up the Badger score to 21.
Wisconsin would score their final touchdown of the game as a result of a deep pass to tight end Austin Traylor to the one-yard line and a second pass to Traylor to finish the drive.
Two Wisconsin Badgers were ejected from the game for targeting, those being Leon Jacobs and Derrick Tindal.
The Trojans have a bye next week, but Troy will take on the South Alabama Jaguars at home on October 3rd.
Notable Trojans:
Brandon Silvers: 23/34, 174 yards.
Brandon Burks: 19 carries for 62 yards.
Jarvis Bentley: 6 catches for 58 yards.
