Voted 2013 Kentucky Mr. Football, Nacarius Fant joined the Hilltoppers after an outstanding career at Bowling Green High School (where he holds every single-game, single-season, and career receiving record). The three-star prospect's commitment to the Hilltoppers never wavered, despite the program's head coaching changes during his recruitment. Expected to explode onto the scene as a freshman, Fant only managed one reception during the entire 2014 season. This can likely be attributed to the depth the Hilltoppers enjoyed at the wide receiver position last season that gained record-setting numbers while catching passes from returning senior quarterback Brandon Doughty.
With long-time starting wide receiver Willie McNeal gone, I expect Fant to see more opportunities to touch the ball this season. In this year's spring game, fans saw a flash of Fant's potential: the former Kentucky Mr. Football snagged 7 catches for 80 yards and a touchdown. Although he will still be among a talented receiving core that includes Jared Dangerfield --arguably Doughty's favorite target-- and Antwane Grant, Fant's play-making ability could give a huge boost to an already explosive Hilltopper offense.
