Kansas City Chiefs Select Southern Miss DT Rakeem Nunez-Roches With Pick #217

A depth pick and a bit of a project for the Chiefs late in the draft as they pick up an underclassman.

Here is an interesting selection at the very end of the sixth round. As we discussed in our draft profile of Nunez-Roches, he is quite the project for the team selecting him, in this case Kansas City. He is a bit undersized to stay at defensive tackle, and it is uncertain as to whether he has the burst and agility necessary to move back a level in the defense.

This also could be purely speculative, as Rakeem did not grow up playing football (he hails from Belize) and missed almost an entire season due to injury in 2013. There are a lot of good puzzle pieces here, but he is far from a sure thing. That's alright, though, because I don't think the Chiefs are expecting him to step into their rotation right away.
