Late in the sixth round, with the 40th pick (216 overall), the Houston Texans picked up a great defensive tackle in Rice's Christian Covington. Covington started six games in 2014 for the Owls and missed four games due to injury.
The former Owl has good size: he's 6'2" weighs in at 289 pounds. He finished his college career with 119 tackles, including 11.5 sacks, as well as forcing four fumbles and blocking two kicks. When healthy, Covington can overpower his OL opponents quickly, though he gets knocked to the ground a little too easily off cut blocks.
Most likely, Covington will require a full medical exam before he gets signed in order to see if his knee will be up to par for professional competition.
