St. Petersburg Bowl - Connecticut vs. Marshall -5, Over 44.5: The opening line was -4.5 and its jumped back and forth at -5 in favor of Marshall. To put it simply, I think Marshall is the better team. UCONN has defeated only one team with a winning record this year. Marshall is 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games. Not too confident in the over so take that one at your own peril.
Heart of Dallas - Washington vs. Southern Mississippi +8.5: Washington's defense is very good so I don't expect the Golden Eagles to score a ton but I'm taking the points based on Washington being extremely inconsistent on offense this year. I also like taking the points with teams who have an explosive offense and Southern Miss has one as they have scored 37 touchdown drives under two minutes . Washington is 1-3 ATS this season following a win. Last time out they defeated Washington State to win the Apple Cup.
Independence Bowl - Virginia Tech vs. Tulsa +14, Over 61.5: Tulsa is another team that boasts an explosive offense. Virginia Tech will be playing with a ton of emotion in Frank Beamer's last game as head coach but here is another offense that has yet to suggests they will be able to cover that big a point spread. Tulsa has played in only one game this year that the total points didn't reach over 60 so I love the over in what I'm expecting to be a wild game.
Military Bowl - Navy vs. Pittsburgh +3, Under 53: Pittsburgh had the benefit of playing an option offense earlier this year as they defeated Georgia Tech 31-28 mid-October. I'm banking on Pat Narduzzi using that experience against Tech to shut down Keenan Reynolds. The Panthers have gone 5-2 ATS after losing the previous week. Last time out they lost to Miami.
Birmingham Bowl - Auburn -2.5 vs. Memphis: Auburn has been a mess this year on offense and defense, and now that they've lost Will Muschamp they could be even worse. Or they could rally the troops and try to build momentum for next season. I'm leaning on the latter as Auburn will be playing a virtual home game in nearby Birmingham. Oh, and Memphis is 2-14-1 ATS in their last 17 games. Pick the Tigers that wear navy and orange.
Peach Bowl - Houston vs. Florida State -7, Over 55.5: I love Florida State. Like a lot. Houston's defense has struggled competent offenses all season and now they have the task of trying to stop Dalvin Cook. I don't see that happening at all. Houston struggled on offense against UCONN and Temple and Florida State has much more talent than both of those units. Take the over as I think Houston will get there fair share of points but it won't nearly be enough to keep up with the 'Noles.
