The Tulsa Golden Hurricane will have plenty of game tape to study before their match-up against a juggernaut Navy offense that just reeled off 403 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns on the ground against an equally abysmal SMU Mustangs defense. The obviously focus will be stopping the totally underrated, to the point of disrespect, Keenan Reynolds.
Reynolds accounted for 5 touchdowns by himself, even tossing a strike to a wide open Jamir Tillman for a 72-yard score halfway through the 2nd quarter. Just when you're getting into the rhythm of the triple-option, Keenan and Co. will toss one over the top for a score. There's something so beautiful about Navy's offense. Everyone knows what's coming. Yet, most of the time, it's unstoppable.
Tulsa is coming off of a loss to a very good Cincinnati team that has taken both Temple and Houston to the wire. What is concerning, is how they lost. Tulsa allowed 5 scoring touchdowns to 3 different Cinci running backs. Tulsa will have rely on Senior Keyarris Garrett to keep doing KG things because Navy is no slouch on defense either, ranking 19th in the nation in total defense. Navy's only struggles this year have come against #4 Notre Dame, where precision and technique wasn't able to keep up with straight up football talent.
Prediction: Navy 42 - Tulsa 21.
Navy may come back to earth a little bit this week, but not by much. Navy was neck-and-neck with the #4 team in the country until the third quarter, so going on the road against a middling Tulsa isn't anything that makes the Midshipmen uneasy. Keenan and Co. will have their way on offense and Tulsa will keep pace early until the rhythm of the game takes over and the LOOOONG Navy possessions start to really take a toll on their struggling defense.
