Louisiana Tech 43, ULL 14

Jonathan Barnes kicked his second field goal of the 2nd quarter to put Louisiana Tech up 22-9 over ULL with :23 left before halftime. Less than a minute of game time later, the Bulldogs blew the game wide open.

Bryson Abraham intercepted Jalen Nixon as the first half ended and returned into the end zone to put Louisiana Tech up 29-7 over the Cajuns at halftime. Then, with just :28 gone by in the third quarter, Jeff Driskel hit Marcus Gaines for a 72 yard touchdown and the Bulldogs led 29-7. Tech would coast from there to a 43-14 victory over ULL.

Gaines, a sophomore from Covington, had 8 catches for 165 yards and a touchdown. Driskel was 20-33 for 290 yards and two touchdowns.

ULL led to start the game, as they took the first possession 75 yards for a touchdown with 13:30 left in the first quarter. The Bulldogs defense tightened after that, holding the Cajuns to just 48 yards for the rest of the first half.

Trent Taylor added 5 catches for 78 yards and a score for Tech. Kenneth Dixon rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown. Jeff Driskel had 7 carries for 56 yards and a touchdown.

Elijah McGuire led the way for ULL with 12 carries for 84 yards and he added 6 catches for 70 yards and a touchdown.

Louisiana Tech returns to Conference USA play next week as they travel to take on UTSA. ULL returns home to host Texas State in Sun Belt action.
