Well, well, well, we're back for another exciting installment of "Maybe Tulane's Loss Didn't Look All That Bad: Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love Bad Football."
None of the Green Wave's opponents really stood out this week, but one team took an 'L' pretty hard.
Let's get to it.
Best win: Houston over SMU
As I mentioned before, none of Tulane's foes stepped up in Week 6. While there were a bunch of wins, all of the winners were pretty much expected.
But after Week 6, there are only two undefeated teams left on the Green Wave's 2015 schedule — and Curtis Johnson's team already lost to one. Both Temple and Houston improved to 5-0, while Navy fell to 4-1 after its loss to Notre Dame.
It seemed as if the Cougars had a game on their hands against SMU. Houston led 28-21 at halftime and the Mustangs appeared to have the 'horses' (pardon the pun) to keep up in a high-scoring affair.
The Cougars then put the pedal to the floor and peeled away from SMU. Houston outscored the Mustangs 21-7 in the second half en route to a 49-28 win.
Greg Ward Jr. continues to impress and is the perfect quarterback for Todd Herman's system. Ward completed 16 of his 18 passes for 243 yards and rushed for 82 more yards on 14 carries.
Honorable mention: Tulsa over UL Monroe
Worst loss: Duke over Army
Tulane lost to the Blue Devils 33-7 in the season opener.
The Black Knights fell to Duke this past weekend by a final score of 44-3.
Are you telling me the Green Wave's loss wasn't that bad to the Blue Devils?
Duke had its way with Army last Saturday, holding the Black Knights to 113 rushing yards. Army kept trying to pound the rock at the Blue Devils (49 carries), but they weren't having it.
I'm terrified what the final score might be when Tulane travels to play the Black Knights. Take the under.
Honorable mention: UConn over UCF
