Marshall beat LA Tech 26-23 behind two touchdown passes from Rakeem Cato.
LA Tech used three turnovers and a blocked punt to help take a 23-16 lead over Marshall after three quarters. Kenneth Dixon's third touchdown run just before the end of the 3rd quarter put the Bulldogs in control.
Marshall went three and out and punted and Trent Taylor called for a fair catch nea he 50. Tech had a chance to pad their lead but Cody Sokol fumbled on the next play. Marshall moved the ball down the field then fumbled themselves down around the Tech 10 yard line.
The Bulldogs took over with 11:56 left in the game at their own 10. Tech still couldn't get much going on offense and punted once again. Marshall took over inside the Tech 40 and quickly moved inside the Tech 10 yard line. The Bulldogs held and Marshall again settled for a field goal. Tech lead 23-19 with 8:26 to go in the game.
Tech took over at their own 33. Sterling Griffin came up with a huge grab to get the Bulldogs across the 50. Sokol had been 0-5 before that pass. Tech got it down to he Marshall 28, where they faced a 4th and 6 with 5:07 to play.
Tech missed a 49 yard field goal and Marshall took over with a chance to win. The Thundering Herd marched down he field and Cato hit McManus for another TD and Marshall took the 26-23 lead with 1:50 to go.
Cody Sokol threw an interception on the very next play and Marshall escaped with the win.
