LA Tech vs Rice: End of 3rd Quarter Update

Rice scored in just 36 seconds to start the 2nd half. Jordan Taylor caught a pass over the middle to the 35 and the next play was a TD pass to Mario Hull. The Owls had cut the lead to 28-24 with 14:24 left in the 3rd quarter.

Driphus Jackson matched a career high with three TD passes.

Kenneth Dixon answered with two long runs, including his third TD of the game. Tech led 35-24 with 11:59 left in the 3rd quarter.

The Bulldogs quickly stopped Rice and the Owls were forced to punt. Tech got the ball back at their 31. After a couple of Tevin King rubs, Jared Craft took it around the right side and scored on a 58 yard run.

LA Tech led 42-24 with 8:20 left in the 3rd quarter. The Bulldogs forced Rice into a 3rd and 21 And Colby Brown intercepted a pass near midfield.

Carlos Henderson caught a pass down to the 10. Kenneth Fixon appeared to fumble across the goal line three plays later. Henderson fell on it and either way, Tech was up 49-24 with 4:44 left in the 3rd quarter.

Trent Taylor went up the seam and caught a pass in stride in the middle of heavy traffic for a 35 yard score. 56-24 Bulldogs with 1:49 left in the 3rd quarter.

Tech appeared to recover a fumble on the kickoff return, but the runner was ruled down. Rice escaped the quarter with no further damage.
