Louisiana Tech vs. Old Dominion Final Score: Monarchs Pull Overtime Upset

A second half comeback and the disappearance of the Bulldog offense leads to a tightening at the top of the CUSA West

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Well that changes everything. After leading by as many as 14 points in the first half, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs managed all of zero points in the second half on the way to a 30-27 overtime loss to the Old Dominion Monarchs.

Taylor Heinicke passed for over 300 yards and got this game to overtime despite throwing a whopping four interceptions. His third pick of the game with a little under four minutes to play seemed to seal ODU's fate, but Cody Sokol's first and only interception of the game appeared to shift the field once more, giving the Monarchs new life. Heinicke would then throw his fourth interception and send the game into overtime.

However, he tossed his second touchdown of the game when it mattered most. After La Tech opened the overtime with a field goal, a touchdown pass from Heinicke to David Washington sealed a victory for the Monarchs.

Old Dominion will now play at Florida Atlantic next weekend with a shot at a .500 record, while Louisiana Tech will face Rice at home in a game where the winner will advance to the Conference USA title game to face Marshall.

We'll have more on the game details coming up.
