Larry Blakeney faces probably his last shot at a victory this weekend against Idaho. Both teams near the end of rough campaigns and look to gain something positive for the offseason.
Start time: 5:00 P.M. ET
Location: Kibbie Dome, Moscow, Idaho
Streaming: ESPN3.com/WatchESPN App
TV: Yea, non happening.
Radio: Troy affiliates here. Idaho here
Records: Troy (2-8, 2-4 Sun Belt). Idaho (1-8, 1-5)
Live Stats: I mean, if you really want to
Betting Line: Idaho -6. Over/Under of 66.5
Troy Outlook: While Blakeney might think he's done it all in his 67 years, this may be his first time coaching in an airport hangar.
Somehow, even though the Trojans have twice as many wins, Idaho opened as a 3 point favorite and the spread is now approaching a full touchdown. I don't see it. The Trojans came out and smashed Georgia State last week, 45-21, and can actually claim a winning streak if they beat Idaho.
Quarterback Brandon Silvers also back-flipped into the end zone during the Georgia State game, giving the Trojans probably their coolest GIF of the year.
Idaho Outlook: Well, their coach is Paul Petrino, whose brother is Bobby Petrino, so there's that.
The Vandals look to finish either 2-10 or 1-11, which sadly is par for the course for a program historically lacking in success. The team throws it a lot, averaging nearly 300 yards passing per game, but the top two quarterbacks combine for 16 interceptions and they've lost eight fumbles. That won't win you a lot of games.
Prediction: I see Troy winning here in an "upset," though oddsmakers and whoever put a bunch of money on the Vandals to raise the spread must have something up their sleeve. We shall see this weekend.
